| A: |
Green Builder College is Green Builder Media’s own learning platform. It is rating system and program agnostic, so it has a broad application and appeal. |
|
| Q: |
What is the difference between LEED or NAHB training and Green Builder College training? |
| A: |
Green Builder College provides a complete review of green building science in an online format. Green Builder College’s curriculum is more comprehensive than the in-person summary courses offered by LEED and NAHB. The ability to take courses online is attractive to many building professionals who do not have the time or resources to travel to in-person trainings. Additionally, Green Builder College does not just train students on one rating system or program. It provides information about the fundamentals of green building in a way that is applicable across many platforms and programs. |
|
| Q: |
Does the Green Builder College certification count for LEED or NAHB points? |
| A: |
The Green Builder Certification does not count toward LEED or NAHB program certification. We are an independent, unbiased educational platform that is not specifically promoting any one green building rating system, standard, or program (we're like Switzerland). We provide education on the fundamentals of green building science, and shortly we will also provide information about the various existing green building programs, standards, and rating systems (for example, LEED-Home, NAHB's National Green Building Program, and other local programs like Earthcraft). We are in the process of establishing relationships with these organizations so that their educational programs and professional designations will count towards Green Builder Certification. |

| Q: |
What is the cost for continuing education? |
| A: |
Costs may vary by offering. Currently, the continuing education offerings cost $35 per course. |
|
| Q: |
How many hours does it take to complete Certification? |
| A: |
Level I takes approximately 40 hours to complete. There are 7 courses in the initial Certification program, each takes 4 to 6 hours to complete. Total time assumes the user views all videos, downloads and reads the study guides, and takes all quizzes and tests. Time will vary by how fast someone reads, and how much prior knowledge they have (the more one knows, the more that person will skim the material, and can work through it much faster). |
|
| Q: |
Is there a time limit? |
| A: |
The training is not timed so you may take it at your leisure. Students also have unlimited access to study guides and our library of resources. |
|
| Q: |
What does logging in after registering get me? |
| A: |
Logging in allows you to view course summaries and watch introduction videos. You will also be able to purchase training after login. Videos for each lesson are available after the Program Certification has been purchased. |
|
| Q: |
Where can I see the scope of courses? |
| A: |
To see a list, an introduction, and objectives for each course click on each of the Certification program buttons. |
|
| Q: |
Who are the instructors? |
| A: |

| Q: |
What types of teaching formats are included? Is it mainly online videos? |
| A: |
We provide a range of ways to access the learning materials to help overcome different learning styles. Each lesson is presented in video, often with an accompanying slide show that reinforces key information. In addition, each lesson has a downloadable study guide (PDF) that provides all the same material (and often much more) in a reading format. Finally, we provide a quiz, which is intended as a study aide to emphasize some of the important questions and responses arising from the topic at hand. It's a big world out there, and we don't pretend to be able to offer it all, so we provide links to other resources where relevant to enhance the learning materials. |
|
| Q: |
Is there any group interaction throughout the course? |
| A: |
At this time there is no group interaction throughout the courses. |
|
| Q: |
Is there homework? |
| A: |
All of the "homework" is in the form of readings and quizzes. There are study guides and resources that will need to be read before taking the tests. Quizzes are included with each lesson, which are designed as a study tool, which focuses on some of the most important concepts within each lesson. |
